The Isla Sonora overlay is a small Windows application that displays over The Isle, just like the Discord overlay. Everything you usually do on the site (quests, groups, skins, park…) becomes accessible without leaving the game. Overview and download page: /overlay.
How to Install It
- Log in to the site via Steam, then go to
/overlay. - Read and accept the overlay rules (which explain, among other things, how voice chat is recorded), then download the application (Windows 10/11).
- Launch it. Windows SmartScreen may display a warning: click “More info” then “Run anyway.”
- In Settings → Account, click “Log in via Steam”.
That’s it: the overlay updates automatically. When a new version is released, a green “UPDATE AVAILABLE” badge appears on the banner; installation is a one-click process from Settings → System.
The Map
Top right: the island map showing your arrow and your teammates, color-coded by species. You can view sanctuaries, migrations, watering holes, regions, salt… as well as hotspots (activity from the last 24 hours) and ongoing Blood Moons.
- Scroll wheel to zoom, click and hold to pan, double-click to re-center.
- Choose from different styles (round, square, pirate), automatic rotation like a GPS, or reversed view (south at the top).
Your Group
The "My Group" panel displays each member of your site group: avatar, species, growth, and health bar (which flashes when low).
- Actions ▾ on a teammate: teleport to them, or kick them if you’re the leader.
- “Add a Member”: Search for an online player and invite them (or ask to join their group), or create a herd of herbivores.
- Received invitations appear at the top of the panel with Accept / Decline.
Your Vitals
A cluster of hexagons displays health, stamina, hunger, thirst, bleeding when you’re bleeding, and your nutrients (carbohydrates, proteins, fats). No more guessing your HP: the game doesn’t display it, but the overlay does. Each tile can be moved, resized, or hidden.
Your Quests
Your daily, seasonal, and Prime quests with their progress. A completed quest can be claimed directly using the “✓ Claim” button. The panel also displays the current Blood Moon event and a shortcut to vote for the server.
Live Skin Editor
Click SKIN CREATOR in the banner: choose your colors zone by zone and watch your dinosaur change in-game in ~2 seconds. The preview is free; it expires if you navigate away or after 15 minutes. When you’re satisfied, “Apply” uses one skin ticket (or 5,000 runes)—or nothing at all if your VIP membership includes unlimited skins.
The Kill Banner
At the top of the screen, the latest kills scroll by: “⚔️ Allosaurus (92%) killed Pseudo (40%)”. The killer is identified only by their dinosaur, never by their username or location.
Proximity Voice Chat
Voice tab: Hear dinosaurs near you, with sound that fades with distance and spatial audio through your headset. Choose your microphone, set it to one-button talk (or always-on), and mute anyone you want.
Everything Else
- PARK in the banner: park your dino in two clicks (same conditions as on the website).
- F10: Opens a Discord ticket without leaving the game (linked Discord account required).
- Alerts: “In combat,” “Too close to another species,” reputation penalties, voice mute.
- Placement: Settings → “Move My Panels” to position and resize everything; choose the screen if you have multiple; visible in OBS option for streamers.
- Insert: Releases the cursor so you can click on the overlay when the game is capturing the mouse.
Is this allowed by the anti-cheat system?
Yes. The overlay is a separate Windows window: it doesn’t read the game’s memory, doesn’t inject anything, and doesn’t modify any files in The Isle. All the information it displays comes from our server, just like on the website.
